Date Day

It's been a long time since the Dragon and I had a date. With NATO coverage consuming my previous weekend, we barely got to see each other. So, when he suggested we spend a day together I couldn't wait. There was a whole lot to do and we did it all while soaking in a beautiful day together.

Our first stop was the Art Fest in Barrington. It was a great morning to head out and looking at all the art, jewelry and sculptures was a lot of fun. I must say though, Dragon's art is way better than many of what was out there. Maybe I'm a little bias.

On our way home we stopped to get supplies for dinner. During the stop he picked up a little surprise for me. Aren't they beautiful?

I was so excited he'd be making his famous (to me) salmon. It is delicious! He tried it a little differently this time around with lemon and dill. It was fantastic.
Melt in your mouth fantastic!

With some brussel sprouts and bacon on the grill we had a wonderfully romantic evening.

The man even watched a chick flick! We curled up on the couch and watched a movie, drank some good wine and finally enjoyed an evening together. It was simple perfection.

What ever did I do to deserve this Dragon?!

I have a talented boyfriend.
This is just one of the many paintings he's done over the last few months.

Have I mentioned how much this man amazes me?

A Relaxing Vacation

Aruba? More like Ah-ma-zing!
It was truly a beautiful island.

The Dragon and I left for vacation on a Saturday, leaving our phones and internet behind and ready to enjoy some much needed R&R.
Spending most of our days in the sand, relaxing beach side and enjoying happy hour.
No better island to lay low and relax.

Unless, your a dragon. Then you find trouble wherever you go.

This could have been the last photo of my best friend, more on that later (maybe). Thankfully, we have plenty more silly pics to share.

Overall, this was a vacation full of fun and sunshine.
It was the most time I have been able to spend with my Dragon in months (if not ever), and because of that it was one of the best learning experiences for both of us.

At night we found wondered the island looking for a fabulous place to eat and fun activities. We ducked into casinos for some late night activity, though we started off with a little luck it escaped us as the week went on.

We rarely argue and on a beautiful island it was no different. Spending so much time together, without others, gave us an opportunity to talk about everything under the Arubian sun.

If there was ever a moment that solidified my overwhelming love for this man, it had to be on this vacation.

O Christmas Tree

This weekend's fun didn't stop at the wedding.  The Dragon and I picked out our first Christmas tree together. Well it'll be his tree, I just got to help in the fun! The process went fairly quickly...well I guess it had to when we got there 10 minutes before the place closed up. We walked around looking at the trees for a bit before picking one up.

It's close to 7 feet tall and slim, I think it's cute. The guy at Home Depot was quick, throwing it in this contraption to wrap it up and load it in the car.

The boys shoved it in the back of the car, quickly the car filled with the scent of pine. The smell of Christmas!
The dragon dragged it into the house, cut the bottom and set it up in its stand. The next morning we woke up to a slightly leaning tree. The bare evergreen needed a little light, on Sunday we dressed it up.

I used to have hearts and stars on my tree, now the mix of both the Dragon and I call for all kinds of ornaments and it couldn't be prettier. This little evergreen is now dressed in its Christmas best, and I must say it is one beautiful tree. I can't wait for Santa to see it too!

With lights gleaming and the ornaments hanging the two of us had much fun getting the hobbit house dressed up. The mantel is ready for Santa's arrival. Even the Foo Dogs have a little Christmas spirit.

Now it's time to cuddle up with a fire and enjoy our hard work.

Giving Thanks

This year Thanksgiving was a little different.
I didn't get to spend the day with my family or gather around the table and eat turkey with them. Nope, this year I went into work and then spend my turkey day with my Dragon's family. The W's were so gracious and kind, welcoming me into their home for the holiday.

Dinner was delicious, all of the traditional trimmings occupied the table. Including turkey, stuffing, mashed taters, cranberries and corn pudding as well as twists on some of the season's best, green bean casserole with brussel sprouts and bacon. As is usual for my family's Thanksgiving feast, there was way too much food and we all ate way too much.

After dinner everyone, feeling a little more sluggish, played a game. It was one we all played last year during Christmas but no one really remembered how to play, so there was a lot of making up rules, breaking them and laughing. I was fun and a great way to end the day.

I wish I had photos to share. It was a wonderful day with a substitute family. I couldn't be more thankful for the love and compassion of the W's and my Dragon.

Hope you had a very happy Thanksgiving!
